Ricoh snags EcoVadis’ sustainability gold three years running

EcoVadis has awarded Ricoh its highest rating for sustainability in its survey for the third year in a row.
The sustainability scorecards and ratings agency assesses suppliers from 150 business sectors in 110 countries on their corporate policies, initiatives, and achievements for environment, labour practices, fair business practices, and supply chain.
“Ricoh was ranked in the top 5% of all companies surveyed,” says Lauren Timmer-Somer, head of marketing and technology services at Ricoh SA. “Sustainability activities are important to our customers, who increasingly request information on these activities as part of the tender process, as well as to our business based on the principles of our founder, Kiyoshi Ichimura.
Ichimura said with outstanding success comes great responsibility, which is why in 2003 Ricoh established its Social Charter that integrates the business’s core values with the 10 principles defined in the UN Global Compact, shared between human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.
As a result, Ricoh ensures its printers meet global energy efficiency standards, resuses plastic in both manufacturing and remanufacturing, and innovates leaner production processes and supply chains.
The business also cuts carbon emissions every year, aiming to slash them by 87,5% by 2050 compared with levels in 2000, and has subsequently won numerous awards, including:
• Rated one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World by the World Economic Forum for the ninth year running;
• FTSE4Good Index Series recognised us nine years running; and
• Deloitte rate Ricoh one of the top global organisations ready for a green and inclusive economy.
Ricoh also provides an innovative sustainability service that simultaneously cuts customer costs. Its managed print services (MPS) service helps customers rationalise their printer fleets and reduce the number of pages they print annually.
Its managed document service (MDS) can eradicate paper altogether by implementing digitalised processes and promoting digitalised intra- and business collaboration.
