Ricoh’s new inkjet heads handle more inks more reliably
Ricoh’s two new industrial inkjet print heads, the MH5421F and the MH5421MF for low and medium viscosity fluids respectively, provide rock-solid jet performance by recirculating ink.
This design enables continuous ink flow directly behind the nozzle to reduce the risk of jet failure from clogging or trapped air bubbles.
“The new print heads also feature better bonding technology that improves durability,” says Frank de Afonseca, head of production print at Ricoh SA. “All of the new features combined mean the new print heads are compatible with a wider range of inks, which means our customers will have more creative options to improve their own offerings to customers.”
Both heads contain 1 280 staggered nozzles that produce 600dpi resolution with drop volumes of 7, 14, and 21 picolitres (pL), suitable for aqueous, solvent, and UV inks.
The new print heads also offer better reliability for single-pass printing, for rapid-setting ink (such as pigment inks, white or metallic materials), and fast drying inks.
“Industrial textile, label, packaging, and ceramic tile printers have to meet a wider variety of customer requirements,” says de Afonseca. “Their customers more often want smaller lot sizes and faster deliveries. The printers have to digitalise to achieve greater flexibility, productivity, and reliability to able to deliver.”
